 General Info and Vikings Mission:

The Colorado Springs Vikings is a non-profit organization, offering youth (ages 5-15) the experience to compete in national and local youth athletic leagues in Colorado. We serve youth primarily in the Southern Colorado Springs consisting of Harrison School District 2, Widefield School District 3, Fountain School District 8, Cheyenne Mountain School District 12, and southern Falcon School District 49.

Our mission is to provide a dynamic, diverse, athletic program which educates and prepares youth for a positive and productive future as it relates to life. The program will focus, emphasize, and expose youth to essential life skills such as Discipline, Character, Integrity, Sportsmanship, and Teamwork. As an organization, we want to ensure that all participants have a positive and fun experience, which in turn will create an enthusiastic attitude towards our community.

We offer youth in our community the opportunity to participate in both non-competitive and competitive league play. Although every sport is "competitive," the term is also used to explain the level of a sport.  Non-Competitive is our beginning level of play in which we support every child to participate in, from the beginner to a more experienced player. Our non-competitive programs are considered "non-travel." This means that all practices are in Colorado Springs either at Memorial Park or local school facilities. Teams will travel to compete in various locations in Colorado during the regular season.

Our Competitive programs are our highest level of competition which travels to compete in various locations in Colorado during the regular season. Teams qualifying for postseason may go outside Colorado to compete at the national level. There is more emphasis placed on winning at the competitive level, but the main objective remains the skill development, fundamentals, and more tactical strategies of the game. Any child can register for our competitive programs, even if they have never played before, although players who have more experience or who know they are fully committed to playing at this level.

All members of the Board of Directors and Coaches are volunteers, and are not compensated for the hundreds of hours they work throughout the year to keep this program going. All of our coaches and seasonal staff are also volunteers who put in many hours on and off the practice fields each season.

Our program is funded through registration fees, donations, sponsors, and fundraising. All funds are put back into the program to pay expenses and make improvements. Some of the costs we incur each year include repair and replacement of equipment and uniforms, field usage fees, equipment storage, insurance, merchandise for resale, end-of-year participant trophies, and other miscellaneous administrative expenses. Each year we strive to improve and nurture this program, thus ensuring its continued existence and availability for the youth in our community.

We appreciate the support and enthusiasm of all our volunteers, sponsors, and parents.
